How to Care for Gold-Plated Jewellery (So It Lasts for Years)
Five simple habits that keep your gold-plated pieces shining, from the order you get dressed in to how you store them.
Gold-plated jewellery can look beautiful for years if you treat it right. Here are the five habits we swear by. ## 1. Last on, first off Perfume, lotion and hairspray are the biggest enemies of plating. Get fully ready first, then put on your jewellery. ## 2. Avoid water Take your pieces off before showering, swimming or washing dishes. Chlorine and soap slowly dull the finish. ## 3. Wipe after wearing A quick wipe with a soft dry cloth removes sweat and oils before they settle. ## 4. Store each piece separately Use the Lyza pouch, or a lined box with compartments. Add a silica gel sachet to absorb moisture. ## 5. Rotate your favourites Wearing the same piece every single day wears it faster. Rotating between two or three favourites keeps them all looking new.
